Ramdev’s Sharbat Jihad: Yoga guru Ramdev is once again at the center of controversy after a video of him using the term “Sharbat Jihad” went viral. During a promotional event for Patanjali, Ramdev stated, “Just like Love Jihad and Vote Jihad, there is Sharbat Jihad too.”
In the video posted on Patanjali’s Facebook page, Ramdev warned against consuming soft drinks and other branded syrups, calling them equivalent to toilet cleaners. He went further, accusing certain syrup brands of funding mosques and madrasas through their profits.
He contrasted this with Patanjali’s products, claiming, “If you drink Patanjali’s sharbat, it will fund Gurukuls, Acharya Kulams, and Indian education systems like Patanjali University.”
Social media users had mixed reactions. While some supported Ramdev’s right to promote his brand, others slammed the remarks as Islamophobic and divisive. Critics accused him of using religion as a marketing tactic, while supporters argued he was simply defending Indian values and businesses.
