In Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, a wave of communal tension has escalated after a 30-year-old man was accused of chasing, harassing, and attempting to abduct a minor girl. The incident led to anger among local residents who took the law into their own hands and physically assaulted the accused before the police could intervene.
Subsequently, the police registered an FIR under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the accused and arrested him. Additionally, family members of the minor girl have also been booked for thrashing the accused in retaliation.
The police are currently investigating the case to ensure justice and maintain peace in the sensitive area. The administration has appealed to the public to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course, urging the community to avoid any further escalation of tension.
