Faridabad: In a chilling conclusion to a case that has gripped Haryana, a local court on Wednesday sentenced 54-year-old Singh Raj to life imprisonment. The convict, identified by police as a “psycho killer,” was found guilty of kidnapping and murdering a 20-year-old woman in 2022.
Additional Sessions Judge Purushottam Kumar delivered the verdict and imposed a fine of ₹2.1 lakh on Raj, a resident of Jasana village. However, the conviction is just the tip of the iceberg. During interrogations, Raj, who worked as a security guard at a private hospital in Sector 16, confessed to a total of six murders.
A Trail of Blood The case came to light in January 2022 when a woman from Bhupani village reported her niece missing. Police recovered the victim’s remains on January 6 and arrested Raj the following day. He admitted to dumping her body on the banks of the Agra Canal.
Subsequent investigations unraveled a horrifying history of violence:
- 2019: Raj allegedly molested and killed the daughter of a tea vendor.
- August 2020: He killed a 12-year-old girl inside the hospital premises after she resisted his molestation attempt.
- June 2021: He murdered another minor girl who worked as a cleaner at the same hospital.
- Family Killings: Raj also confessed to murdering his uncle and cousin in separate incidents.
Justice Served “During the trial, 29 witnesses testified against him,” a Faridabad police spokesperson stated. While Raj begins his life term for the 2022 case, trials for the remaining five murders are still pending in court. The revelation of a serial killer operating within a hospital setting has raised serious questions about employee verification and safety protocols in private institutions.
