HARYANA — What was supposed to be a day of love turned into a gruesome crime scene in Haryana this Valentine’s Day. Police have arrested a Chartered Accountant (CA) for the premeditated murder of his wife, a bank manager who was reportedly pregnant at the time of her death.
The incident, which initially surfaced as a tragic robbery-cum-murder, unraveled into a dark tale of domestic suspicion and betrayal. The accused, identified as the victim’s husband, initially called the police in a state of panic, claiming that unidentified miscreants had broken into their home, looted valuables, and killed his wife when she resisted.
The Staged Robbery According to police sources, the crime scene was meticulously arranged to look like a struggle. Household items were scattered, and the husband claimed that the “robbers” had fled with jewelry and cash. However, investigators noted several inconsistencies in his narrative. There were no signs of forced entry consistent with a violent break-in, and the nature of the victim’s injuries suggested a personal motive rather than a random attack.
The Confession Under sustained interrogation, the husband’s defense crumbled. He confessed to killing his wife, citing “suspicion of an illicit affair” as the primary motive. Police revealed that the couple had been having frequent arguments recently. On the night of Valentine’s Day, a heated argument escalated, leading the accused to strangle and assault his wife.
To cover his tracks, he inflicted additional wounds on her body to mimic an attack by looters and scattered belongings to stage a theft. The tragedy is compounded by the fact that the victim was expecting a child, a detail that has sent shockwaves through the local community.
” The accused thought he could outsmart the law by fabricating a loot story, but digital evidence and forensic reports didn’t align with his version,” a senior police official stated.
The police have recovered the weapon used in the crime and are currently verifying if anyone else assisted the accused in tampering with the evidence. The accused has been charged with murder and destruction of evidence.
