Thiruvananthapuram, April 10, 2025 – Public sector healthcare enterprise HLL Lifecare Limited, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has officially commenced its Diamond Jubilee Year. The celebration began with the company’s Annual Factory Day, inaugurated by HLL’s Chairperson and Managing Director Dr. Anitha Thampi at the Perurkada factory premises.
Dr. Thampi emphasized that completing 60 years is a proud milestone for HLL and announced that the company is now planning to expand its operations into areas such as nutrition, mental health, and veterinary services. As part of the Jubilee celebrations, nationwide health seminars and year-long public health outreach initiatives will be held across the country.
Founded on March 1, 1966, HLL started as a condom manufacturer and inaugurated its first factory in Perurkada on April 5, 1969. Today, HLL manufactures and markets over 70 healthcare products, spanning diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, hospital construction, R&D, and infrastructure development.
Notable initiatives under HLL include Hindlabs (affordable diagnostic imaging), AMRIT pharmacies (medicines and life-saving implants), and HLL Opticals. The company also runs various programs focused on waste management, menstrual hygiene, and other public health areas.
HLL operates 8 state-of-the-art factories, 22 regional offices, and over 200,000 retail outlets across India. It exports products to more than 80 countries and manages five subsidiary companies.
On the occasion of Factory Day, a flag-hoisting ceremony and the inauguration of a new walkway for employees were held. The event was graced by Director (Marketing) N. Ajith, Senior VP V. Kuttappan Pillai, Unit Head L.G. Smitha, and Senior HR Head Ramesh Mohan.
