INDORE — In a case that has sent shockwaves through the student community of Indore, the police have arrested a 24-year-old man for the brutal murder of his girlfriend and MBA classmate. The investigation has revealed a disturbing cocktail of modern relationship conflicts and archaic superstitions, including a “black magic” delusion that allegedly drove the accused to kill.
The victim, a 24-year-old MBA student, was found dead in a rented flat in the Bhawarkua area. Her body, discovered in a semi-decomposed state, bore the marks of a violent end. The primary suspect, her boyfriend Piyush, was apprehended by the Indore Crime Branch in Kerala, where he had fled in a desperate attempt to evade the law.
The ‘Beer Party’ and the Fatal Argument According to police reports, the couple had gathered at Piyush’s flat for what was supposed to be a casual evening. Investigators revealed that the two consumed beer before an argument broke out. The situation escalated rapidly, fueled by Piyush’s long-standing suspicions. In a fit of rage, he allegedly strangled her to death.
The ‘Black Magic’ Delusion The motive appears to be rooted in deep-seated paranoia. During interrogation, Piyush reportedly told the police that he believed the victim was practicing “black magic” on him. He claimed he had been feeling unwell and mentally disturbed for some time and was convinced that his girlfriend’s “dark energies” were the cause. This irrational fear, combined with intoxication, allegedly triggered the murder.
A Chilling Message and the Escape The crime took an even more sinister turn in its aftermath. After killing her, Piyush reportedly used the victim’s phone to send a WhatsApp message to her father, callously stating, “I have killed your daughter.” He also allegedly posted objectionable photos and videos of the victim on their college WhatsApp group, an act intended to defame her even after death.
Following the murder, Piyush locked the flat and went on the run. He traveled nearly 2,000 kilometers to Kerala, hoping to disappear in the southern state. To hide his identity, he shaved his beard and changed his appearance. However, his digital footprint gave him away. The Indore Police, tracking his mobile signals and financial transactions, zeroed in on his location and took him into custody.
The police have charged Piyush with murder and destroying evidence. The tragic incident highlights the dangerous intersection of superstition and relationship toxicity, cutting short the life of a promising young student.
