KULLU – Administrative work in the Kullu district ground to a halt on Saturday as the Revenue Patwari and Kanungo Association launched a ‘pen-down strike’ in protest against an assault on their colleague.
The unrest stems from an incident where a Patwari was allegedly beaten up by locals while performing his official duties in the field. Condemning the act, the association stated that government employees are increasingly becoming targets of violence, making it impossible to work without adequate security.
Public Inconvenienced The strike has severely impacted public services. Citizens visiting Tehsil offices for land records, income certificates, and demarcations were left stranded as officials refused to process any files. “We will not lift the pen until the attackers are arrested and a strict message is sent,” a representative of the association declared. The union has warned of intensifying the agitation if the police fail to act swiftly.
