President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Himachal Pradesh from May 5 to 9. Her itinerary includes visits to Shimla, Mandi, and potentially the iconic Rohtang Tunnel. On May 5, she will arrive in Shimla from Delhi and then proceed to Mandi.
President Murmu will be the chief guest at a special celebration commemorating 15 years of IIT Mandi, one of India’s rapidly emerging institutions in science and technology. Earlier this year in February, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had also participated in the institute’s 16th Foundation Day event.
IIT Mandi is preparing to make this event a memorable one in the presence of the President. According to sources, the President might also visit the Rohtang Tunnel during her stay. A team from the Ministry of Defence has already reviewed the arrangements in Shimla. This will be President Murmu’s first visit to Mandi since taking office, where she is expected to attend various programs as per official protocol.
