Shimla, January 11, 2026 – In a significant boost to the state’s energy sector, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu revealed that the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) has generated a revenue of ₹300 crore from the sale of electricity. This announcement comes as a breather for the board, which has been navigating fiscal challenges over the past few years.
The Drivers of Growth According to the Chief Minister, this revenue spike is the result of systematic reforms and the strategic sale of surplus power to other states during peak production periods. The government has focused on minimizing transmission losses and ensuring timely recovery of dues from industrial consumers.
Modernization and Reforms CM Sukhu emphasized that the state is moving towards making the electricity board self-reliant. The integration of smart metering and digital payment systems has played a key role in transparent revenue collection. He further stated that this income would be reinvested into upgrading the state’s power infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted supply to the remote villages of Himachal.
