BENGALURU: Taking a significant step towards ensuring the safety of the youngest commuters on the road, Ather Energy has partnered with the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP). On Thursday, the EV giant handed over 100 units of its specialized ‘Ather Junior’ helmets to the police force.
This initiative highlights a critical gap in road safety—protective gear for children. While adult helmets are mandatory and common, children riding pillion often go unprotected or wear ill-fitting adult helmets.
Safety Starts Young
The ‘Ather Junior’ helmets are ISI-certified and specifically designed to fit the smaller head size of children, ensuring maximum protection and comfort. By equipping the Traffic Police with these helmets, Ather aims to help the department raise awareness and distribute them where necessary to encourage compliance with safety norms.
Senior officials from the Bengaluru Traffic Police appreciated the corporate social responsibility (CSR) gesture, noting that child safety on two-wheelers is a priority enforcement area for the city.
Why It Matters
According to the Motor Vehicles Act, children above the age of four riding on a motorcycle must wear a helmet. This move by Ather not only supports the law but also sends a strong message to parents about investing in correct safety gear for their kids.
