Shimla, March 10 — A disruption in LPG transportation has triggered a gas supply crisis across several parts of Himachal Pradesh, forcing gas agencies to temporarily halt the refilling of commercial LPG cylinders in multiple districts. The situation has raised concerns among restaurants, hotels and small businesses that depend heavily on commercial gas supplies.
Officials said the crisis emerged after the movement of LPG cylinders from bottling plants slowed due to logistical challenges affecting transportation. As supplies began to shrink at distribution centres, gas agencies were compelled to suspend the refilling of commercial cylinders to manage the limited stock.
Authorities confirmed that the shortage has been reported in several districts across the state, including major urban and tourist areas where the demand for commercial cylinders remains high.
Hospitality and Small Businesses Affected
The halt in refilling services has created immediate challenges for restaurants, roadside eateries, hotels and catering services across Himachal Pradesh. Many establishments rely entirely on commercial LPG cylinders for daily kitchen operations.
