Beirut, March 10 — Israel carried out a fresh wave of airstrikes across southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday, targeting what the Israeli military described as positions linked to the armed group Hezbollah. The attacks marked a renewed escalation along the Israel-Lebanon border after weeks of intermittent cross-border hostilities.
According to the Israeli military, the strikes focused on locations believed to be used by Hezbollah for military infrastructure and operations. The air raids reportedly hit areas in southern Lebanon as well as parts of the eastern Bekaa Valley.
Lebanese security sources confirmed that explosions were heard in multiple regions following the strikes, though the full extent of damage and casualties was not immediately clear.
Israeli Military Statement
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the attacks were conducted in response to security threats emerging from across the border. In a statement, the military said it targeted sites linked to Hezbollah activities.
“The strikes were aimed at locations used by Hezbollah for operational purposes,” the Israeli military said, adding that it remains prepared to respond to further threats.
Hezbollah has not immediately issued a detailed statement regarding the latest strikes, although the group has previously warned it would respond to Israeli attacks.
Growing Tensions Along the Border
The Israel-Lebanon border has witnessed repeated exchanges of fire since the start of the broader regional conflict involving Israel and armed groups aligned with Hezbollah.
In recent months, both sides have engaged in artillery exchanges, drone strikes and rocket attacks along the frontier. The ongoing tension has raised concerns among international observers about the possibility of a wider regional escalation.
The United Nations and several diplomatic actors have repeatedly called for restraint, urging both sides to avoid actions that could intensify the conflict.

Residents in parts of southern Lebanon have reported increasing insecurity due to the continuing strikes and military activity. Some villages close to the border have seen people relocate temporarily as a precaution.
Local authorities in Lebanon have also expressed concern about damage to infrastructure and the risks posed to civilian areas during the cross-border hostilities.
Regional Concerns Persist
Security analysts say the latest Israeli strikes underscore the fragile security situation along the Lebanon-Israel frontier. The presence of Hezbollah, which maintains strong military capabilities in Lebanon, remains a central factor in the ongoing tensions.
Diplomatic efforts continue in parallel as international mediators attempt to prevent the conflict from spreading further across the region.
For now, both Israel and Hezbollah appear to be maintaining a pattern of limited but frequent exchanges, leaving the broader security situation uncertain.
