New Delhi, March 11 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, transferring about ₹19,000 crore to farmers across India. The funds will be distributed during an event scheduled in Guwahati, Assam, on March 13, according to official announcements.
The PM-Kisan scheme provides financial assistance to eligible farmer families by transferring money directly to their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The upcoming instalment will benefit millions of farmers across the country, continuing the government’s flagship initiative aimed at supporting agricultural income.
Direct Income Support For Farmers
Under the PM-Kisan programme, each eligible farmer family receives ₹6,000 per year in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each. Since the scheme’s launch in 2019, the government has transferred more than ₹2 lakh crore to farmers nationwide.
Officials said the 22nd instalment will be credited directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts during the event in Guwahati. The scheme is designed to help farmers manage expenses related to seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural needs.
Event In Assam
Prime Minister Modi is expected to attend the programme in Assam’s capital Guwahati, where the instalment will be formally released. The event will also highlight government initiatives aimed at improving farmers’ welfare and strengthening rural incomes.
Government representatives stated that the PM-Kisan scheme remains one of the largest direct income support programmes for farmers in the world. The digital DBT system ensures transparency by transferring funds directly to beneficiaries without intermediaries.
Wider Impact Of The Scheme
Agriculture experts say the scheme has provided a steady source of financial support to small and marginal farmers. By providing predictable income assistance, the programme aims to reduce financial pressure during the agricultural cycle.
The instalment release also comes as part of ongoing efforts by the government to strengthen rural development and agricultural productivity.
More details regarding beneficiary verification and payment updates are expected to be shared by the government ahead of the March 13 event.
