SHIMLA, March 19: Four personnel of the Himachal Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) have been suspended after coming under suspicion in connection with an LSD trafficking case, officials said on Wednesday.
The action was taken after preliminary findings indicated possible links between the accused personnel and a narcotics network operating in the state. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to verify their role in the case.
According to sources, the development emerged during an ongoing probe into LSD trafficking, where law enforcement agencies uncovered leads pointing towards internal involvement.
Officials confirmed that the four STF personnel have been placed under suspension pending further inquiry. Departmental proceedings are also expected to follow based on the outcome of the investigation.
Probe Expands After Internal Links Surface
Investigators are examining whether the suspended personnel directly assisted traffickers or shared sensitive information that may have aided illegal operations.
The case has raised concerns within the police department, as STF units are specifically tasked with tackling organized crime and narcotics smuggling. Senior officials have assured that strict action will be taken if any wrongdoing is established.
Crackdown on Drug Network Intensifies
The LSD trafficking case is part of a broader crackdown on drug networks in Himachal Pradesh, particularly in tourist-heavy districts where synthetic drugs have shown increasing circulation.
Authorities are now expanding the probe to identify the full network, including suppliers and local contacts. Additional arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
Officials reiterated that the integrity of law enforcement agencies will be maintained and no individual will be spared if found guilty.
